Course Details

The Master of Architecture is a three-year program which allows students to combine study with practical experience. The program is open to a small cohort of critical-thinking and creative students who have completed a bachelor degree in a wide spectrum of disciplines such as the Arts, Communications, Fine Art, Design, Planning, Law and Social Sciences. Students from an accredited bachelor-level pathway in Architecture enter the second year of the program and may complete the degree in two years. The strength of this program lies in its unique combination of the small diverse cohort, socio-spatial Design Studios that tackle contemporary issues, and tailored practice placements. The Design Studio is the central component of the curriculum where students apply their knowledge, creativity and strategic problem-solving skills in the design of built environments. During their practice placements students apply their professional and technical learning in local practices under the supervision of a Registered Architect. The curriculum focuses on diverse graduate employability opportunities and is closely aligned with the Australian National Standard of Competency for Architects. In addition to gaining professional competencies, students develop high-level strategic research agility, resourcefulness and design innovation that will open up opportunities within traditional and non-traditional career pathways.
