2025 HDR Scholarship - Targeting Brain Vasculature to Study Brain Disorders
Curtin University
Scholarship Information
Award value: AUD $37,500 annually
Level of study: Postgraduate
This PhD scholarship supports a student passionate about developing novel therapeutics for brain diseases such as stroke and Alzheimer’s disease. The project focuses on understanding how the brain vasculature - particularly the blood-brain barrier - is disrupted in these conditions, how such dysfunction impairs drug delivery, and whether restoring vascular integrity can improve outcomes. This research is part of an NHMRC-funded Investigator Grant and offers excellent training in experimental techniques, data analysis, and translational research. The successful candidate will gain in-depth expertise in both cardiovascular and neurological diseases, preparing them for a career in academic, clinical, or industry-based biomedical research.
