Course Details

This postgraduate course will help you take your skills from your undergraduate degree to become a teacher. You may be looking to change your career or youve decided after finishing your undergraduate degree, that teaching is what you really want to do. Youll graduate from this degree with the confidence and skills to teach in primary school across Australia and overseas. Its a hands-on course that gets you out into the classroom for a minimum of 60 days, where you can put what youve learnt into practice.Youll discover how children learn and how you can help to develop and support their learning. Youll look at examples from around the world, and learn how to best work with children from diverse backgrounds. Well help you top up your skills in English, maths, numeracy and more, so that when you start work as a teacher, youre as comfortable and qualified as can be. This 2 year degree may be condensed into 18 months of full time study, or 3 years of part-time study (part-time study is not available to international students). Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)

Course structure: This course consists of eight core units and two elective depth study units, as well as fieldwork placements. A major learning experience for students is the supervised teaching practicum where students are required to teach in secondary schools for a minimum of 60 days.

Students will be required to apply for a Working with Children Check card before commencing their program. A copy must be supplied prior to commencing placements. This program is also available via off-campus/ online learning, in combination with compulsory teaching placements. Students will be required to complete examinations either on-campus, or at an approved remote exam location in their region, under supervision. Please note, this study mode is only available part-time (over 3 years).
