Master of Teaching (Early Childhood)


Course Details

This is a recognised initial pre-service teacher postgraduate degree to become eligible to apply for Teacher Registration in South Australia as early childhood teachers (birth to age 8). Students will be provided with the background and skills necessary to enter the early childhood teaching profession with confidence and competence. There are important Inherent Requirements for this degree and applicants are strongly advised to become aware of those requirements available at https://www.flinders.edu.au/study/courses/education-inherent-requirements . Commencing full-time or part-time students in this course will be considered for the Enabling Educator Excellence (E3) Scholarship, funded by the South Australian Government, without having to apply separately, provided they meet the specified criteria. Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)

Course structure: Students complete sixteen core (compulsory) topics aimed at providing students with the knowledge of curriculum studies and theories of education and undertake professional experience to bring together theory and practice in early childhood settings, (e.g. Childcare centres, kindergartens, early learning centres and school year levels Reception to Year 2). Due to South Australian teacher registration requirements, credit transfer applications for previous study in other Masters level qualifications cannot be considered for approval.
