Master of Science (Groundwater Hydrology)
Flinders University
Course Details
This degree aims to provide students with an overview of processes that determine the source, amount and flows of water in aquifers with a particular focus on aspects relating to water problems facing Australia. It is intended for scientists, engineers and other environmental professionals whose work requires groundwater knowledge to complete a professional and industry-focused study of groundwater hydrology. It is offered in partnership with the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, the largest centre specialising in groundwater education and research in the southern hemisphere.
Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)
Course structure: Students complete nine core (compulsory) topics, either a major or minor research project, and option topics chosen from a range of option topics available. These topics aim to provide training in research methodology and preparation of a professional thesis or report from project conception, design of methods, collection of results and their analysis, through to final conclusions and recommendations for future work. Other associated topics teach students the critical interrelationships groundwater has in the hydrologic cycle such as surface water hydrology and soil-plant hydrology, amongst others. Students will gain a wide understanding of environmental hydrological processes and phenomena, including but not limited to groundwater.
