Course Details

The University of Newcastle's Master of Midwifery Studies (MMS) is designed to develop an in-depth understanding of contemporary midwifery theories and practice which will enable you to demonstrate leadership within the midwifery profession and contemporary maternity services. Extending your midwifery education in this way will place you in an optimum position to positively influence future midwifery practice and maternity services provision.

Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)

Course structure: Qualification for the award requires 80 units (AQF Level 8 Entry) of course work. All students must undertake 40 units of core courses. Students may undertake 40 units in one of 5 specialisations: Midwifery Primary Care, Clinical Education Research, Leadership and Management (offered on part time basis only); or Family Health. Students not wishing to undertake a specialisations must complete 40 units of directed courses from the General Directed Course list.
