Course Details
The Master of Education is intended for registered/accredited teachers across Australia, or student otherwise who hold an education qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Applicants will have previously completed, or be in the process of completing the nested in courses EDC101 Graduate Certificate in STEM Education and / or EDC102 Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership. The Master of Education further develops students' knowledge and skills by providing a critical overview of research perspectives and practices, giving students the opportunity to examine the challenges experienced by learners with diverse needs, apply pedagogies and strategies that can be implemented to support wellbeing and solidify their own personal learning through the development of a professional portfolio. With a close nexus between research and practice, students are provided the most contemporary knowledge and skills to allow them to develop their career as school leaders and specialist educators. The course places emphasis on students being able to understand how research and theory influence teaching practice and on how to reflect on these learnings to further develop educational approaches to stay at the forefront of the ever-evolving field of education. Covering a breadth of subject matter, students will gain an understanding of how learning, teaching and curriculum intersect and articulate strategic initiatives to strengthen education systems. This fully online course is delivered across a series of accelerated units and can be completed in two six month periods of focused study. This course contains the nested courses EDC101 Graduate Certificate in STEM Education and EDC102 Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership.
