Master of Actuarial Studies


Course Details

This specialist program provides graduates with the required competencies to pursue the role of an actuarial analyst in the financial services, insurance or superannuation industry. The program covers the professional actuarial subjects (Part I: CT1-8) recognised by the Actuaries Institute in Australia. Graduates with a bachelor degree in actuarial studies should be able to fast-track their professional accreditation to obtain Part II as well as Part III (ST9 Enterprise Risk Management) exemptions. Note: Graduates without a bachelor degree in actuarial studies should consider the Master of Actuarial Studies (Extension) to potentially gain Part I and Part II exemptions of the Actuaries Institute's professional examinations. Engineering graduates with a strong background in mathematics/statistics may be considered for this program.

Qualification: Master Degree (By Coursework)

Course structure: 12 courses (72 UOC): 4 core courses and 8 elective courses

Applicants planning to study this program in Semester 2 need to have the required background in actuarial studies. Those with a very strong background in Econometrics, Mathematics (including Financial Mathematics) or Statistics may be allowed to commence the program in Semester 2, as determined by the UNSW Business School. Please contact the School prior to lodging an application to determine the required background to study this program in Semester 2.
