Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages


Course Details

The Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) requires 0.5 years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The course is offered by the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. The course articulates with the 36 unit Graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and the 72 unit Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and the sequentially developed topics enable progression through the three awards.

Qualification: Graduate Certificate

Course structure: Students complete two core (compulsory) topics language teaching and learning, and curriculum development and teaching practice. Students also complete two option topics chosen from a range of option topics available such as linguistics, language assessment, and research. These topics aim to provide students the disciplinary knowledge in the area of teaching English to speakers of other languages.
