Graduate Certificate in Education (Early Childhood)


Course Details

The Graduate Certificate in Education (Early Childhood) is designed to introduce students to advanced knowledge and understandings of specialised educational theory, practices and research within the domain of early childhood education and care. Students are challenged to critically evaluate issues relating to early childhood and care through gaining international perspectives in child development and early years pedagogy. Students are expected to use cognitive, technical and creative skills with initiative and a high level of personal autonomy and accountability to generate understanding of complex issues in early childhood education and care. Students in this program will be expected to justify and interpret critical issues in early child education and care.

Qualification: Graduate Certificate

Course structure: 4 compulsory courses Practicum Experience is embedded within the coursework (two weeks with babies and toddlers aged 0-2 years within a childcare context and 10 weeks with children aged 3-5 years within a school or childcare context). Please note: Students who already hold an ECE qualification are not required to undertake the practicum.
