Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy


Course Details

Counsellors and psychotherapists improve peoples lives by helping them to explore their emotional and psychological issues in a safe and confidential environment. The Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy provides students with an introduction to the theory and skills that underpin a rewarding career in counselling. Offering recognition for prior learning, the certificate is suited to people who have been working in a counselling role without an undergraduate qualification and wish to extend their knowledge and skills with a tertiary qualification. Comprising four courses in counselling skills, the certificate offers a choice of full-time or part-time study options. Students participate in small group workshops to practise and improve key skills through case-based learning. Face-to-face classes and teaching methods allow students to develop close working relationships with their cohort and academics. Graduates have the option to continue their studies with the Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy. With further studies or additional qualifications, students receiving training to be counselling professionals and work in a wide variety of fields including: careers counselling, education, child and family services, child protection services, youth work, family counselling, facilitating groups, and rehabilitation counselling.

Course structure: Students complete 4 core courses in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
