This degree covers contemporary issues in tourism and event development and planning, and investigates the approaches required to best respond to the opportunities and challenges of the global tourism and events industries, such as climate change and the implications of rapid tourism growth both domestically and internationally.
Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)
Course structure: Knowledge and skills-orientated tourism business practices, and the functioning of the tourism industry globally form a core component of the degree. It combines academic analysis of trends in worldwide tourism and its impact with practical contact with selected local, regional, national and international aspects of tourism. It covers issues in tourism development and planning that allow for the retention of the authentic character of a place, and investigates the approaches required to best respond to the opportunities and challenges presented in global tourism. Policy, strategic and sustainable development, and global best practice are also covered.
