Course Details

The Bachelor of Science (Physics) requires 3 years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The course specialisation is offered by the College of Science and Engineering. The course specialisation is also available as an exit award from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Physics) - 4 years, subject to meeting the requirements in the Program of Study below.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: This course is built around knowledge of the core sciences with elective topics to meet the specific interests of students. Throughout the course there is a strong focus on fieldwork and practical training, projects involving team-work and the development of communication and professional skills. First year is about laying the foundation with studies of well-known science from antiquity to the present, then in second and third year deeper explorations into Quantum, Optics, Electromagnetism, thermodynamics, optoelectronics, nuclear physics and cosmology are possible. Experimental physics skills are developed throughout the program, and there are placement opportunities within the capstone topic experience and summer scholarship placements.
