Course Details

Students completing this program will have developed theoretical knowledge and clinical skills needed by competent beginning-level registered nurses who can practice within a diverse range of health care contexts and practice settings of the 21st century. Graduates will be able to meet currently accepted standards of nursing practice as determined by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMAC) National Competencies for the Registered Nurse; provide culturally sensitive nursing care to the diverse Australian community; provide quality nursing care in a range of healthcare settings and contexts; use an evidence based approach in providing nursing care; apply a health promotion and educational focus to their work; undertake a team based, multidisciplinary and interprofessional approach to care; have well-developed clinical decision-making and reflective practice knowledge and skills; and adopt a lifelong approach to learning.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: 288 credit points; 22 Core Professional units and 1 unit of Elective studies.

Applicants who do not meet the normal admission requirements but who possess appropriate educational qualifications, work or life experiences which would enable them to successfully undertake the course, will be considered for admission. Persons of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent are encouraged to apply for admission. Applicants will be assessed on an individual basis to determine their suitability and potential for success in the course. Applicants who consider their capacity to qualify under normal entry provisions have been limited by some disadvantage, for example, illness, disability, economic hardship or isolation may apply to be considered as a disadvantaged person.
