Bachelor of Medical Science (Laboratory Medicine)


Course Details

The Bachelor of Medical Science (Laboratory Medicine) requires 4 years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). This is an exciting specialisation that builds on the Bachelor of Medical Science degree and covers areas such as haematology and transfusion science, microbiology, genetics, immunology, virology, biochemistry, molecular biology and more.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: Students undertake two 13-week placements, equating to approximately 900 hours of laboratory placement in the fourth year of the degree, allowing them to apply their learning in a full-time capacity to a diagnostic pathology laboratory environment. The course meets requirements as specified in the SA Health Allied Health Professional Credentials, including Access Appointments Policy Directive, for the SA Pathology credentialing process.
