Course Details

The University of Newcastle's Bachelor of Mathematics (Advanced) is for those who are passionate about mathematics and who are inspired to reach the cutting edge of mathematics. You will learn from leading mathematical researchers who will guide you through a tailored program, specifically designed to give you the skills that employers are seeking. You’ll be able to follow your passions, and customise your study with a wide range of disciplinary choices. Our guidance and mentoring give you the confidence to know you’re heading where you want to with your career in mathematics. You’ll begin the important process of establishing the professional networks that will be critical throughout your career. You’ll have authentic opportunities to work with industry and in research whilst you study and will be prepared to pursue higher degree and research opportunities, including internationally. By the time you finish your studies, you will have the practical skills to apply mathematics to make a difference in the world and contribute to expanding the boundaries of mathematics itself.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: The Bachelor of Mathematics (Advanced) requires students to pass courses totalling 240 units, as follows: 130 units of Core courses; 10 unit Programming Directed course; One 60 unit major (includes 20 units of Core courses for a total of 80 units; 40 units of Electives.
