The Bachelor of Engineering (Software) (Honours) - 4 years is an accredited degree that provides education in the application of computer science and engineering principles, including paradigms, standards, theoretical knowledge and practical skills, to design, develop, test, verify and implement computer-based solutions to complex and diverse problems. It offers national best practice work experience and job placement, training you for the needs of the South Australian, Australian and international industry and public service sectors. It also includes research training and a thesis enabling students to progress to a PhD.

Course structure: The first year contains study in fundamental science and engineering topics including computing, electronics, engineering physics, materials and mechanics, computer programming and mathematics. In second and third year students develop technical skills in programming, engineering design, software engineering and project management. Third year incorporates our nationally recognised industry placement program which provides students with 20 weeks of structured industry work experience with a local, national or international organisation. In the final year students study advanced software systems and can select from a range of advanced technical electives. It also includes a major research project.
