Course Details

The Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (Honours) - 4 years requires 4 years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The course specialisation is offered by the College of Science and Engineering.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Honours)

Course structure: The first year comprises topics in fundamental science and engineering including design, engineering physics and materials, engineering mechanics, engineering programming and mathematics. During the first three years of this degree, students will study professional skills, mechanics and structures, dynamics, mechanics of machines, fluid mechanics and project management. Students will also complete a mechanical engineering practice certificate. The third year also incorporates our nationally recognised industry placement program which provides students with 20 weeks of structured industry work experience with a local, national or international organisation. Students gain specialist knowledge in key areas, graduating with a proven on-the-job performance. The final year provides advanced mechanical design, provides opportunities for students to undertake elective topics. It also includes a major mechanical research project.
