Course Details

The Bachelor of Computer Science provides education in both the theoretical paradigms and practical skills required to design and implement computer-based systems. It offers national best practise work experience and job placement, training you for the needs of the South Australian and Australian technology industry and public service sectors. The course is also available as an exit award from the Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) or Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours), Master of Science (Mathematics), subject to meeting the requirements in the Program of Study below.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree (Pass)

Course structure: In first year, students gain skills in the core computing technologies, and knowledge of general computing and introductory programming. In second and third year, students further develop their expertise in programming and software development, and are introduced to key facets of computer systems. Students will study areas such as computer programming, network and operating systems, software engineering, project management and interactive computer systems. In the final year students can also choose to undertake a Information Technology Project or Information Technology Practicum where they further build on the practical experiences developed during the degree. Throughout the degree, students have the opportunity to participate in group projects and attend guest lectures by computing and information technology professionals. A Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) program is also available.
