The Bachelor of Commerce is a great choice if you want a career that requires specialist business expertise or certification: think careers such as chartered accountant, financial planner or property valuer. Its particularly suited to people who are detail-oriented, love untangling problems or who seek mastery in subjects that interest them. Through our Commerce degree, you can hone your skills in a particular business area. Your learning experiences will be richly interactive and industry connected, using advanced technologies that develop your decision-making and leadership skills, both of which are essential in a future marketplace. The course starts with a business foundation year, where you will explore value creation in business, learn to use financial information to make informed and responsible decisions, and develop your business intelligence and analytical capabilities to interpret data in a meaningful way. Following on from this, youll choose one major area of business in which to specialise and gain expertise, employing learned career management theories to plan your own success. Youll then complement your major with one of three choices from areas such as arts, science or design: a second major, two specialisations or one specialisation with four electives. This degree will grow your international business outlook and connect you with the industry. In your final year, youll undertake an industry work placement or work on an applied business project, applying your entrepreneurial skills, business ideas and ‘out of the box thinking to a real business environment. The Bachelor of Commerce can also be studied as part of a double degree with Arts, Science, Law, Engineering or Psychology, giving you even more career choices.
