Bachelor Honours Degrees prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional work, research and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications. The Bachelor of Commerce Honours is a one year program available to outstanding commerce students who want to develop advanced professional knowledge, and acquire advanced skills in critical thinking and research, that are in high demand in industry. This course prepares you for stepping straight into professional roles in business, providing excellent project management skills and the ability to solve real industry problems. You can study honours in one of two streams; Economics and Finance, or Business. In the Economics and Finance stream, youll study compulsory units in research methods, microeconomics, macroeconomics and advanced econometric techniques to advance your skills in analysing data with a complex structure. Youll also complete a thesis on a topic that interests you, under the guidance of a supervisor. In the Business stream, youll study compulsory units in research methods, including qualitative and quantitative methods, and choose one optional unit; critical issues in management, business analytics and data visualisation or buyer behaviour and analysis. Youll also have the flexibility to complete either a thesis on a topic that interests you, or complete a consultancy/internship together with an advanced research project, both of which will be undertaken under the guidance of a supervisor. Studying honours is a great catalyst for your career, and can also be a pathway to further learning in a master degree or doctoral degree. In both streams, youll be learning from researchers and professionals with many years of specialised industry experience.
